This Privacy Policy explains how laiflonglearner (“the website”), operated by Nadia (“I,” “me,” or “my”), handles information when you browse the website, sign in, or use its interactive features.

Information the website handles

You can read the website without creating an account. The website may handle:

  • Account information. If you sign in with Google through Clerk, Clerk receives your Google account identifier, email address, name, profile image, and any other basic profile information you authorize. The website uses your Clerk user ID and may display your name, username, and profile image beside content you submit.
  • Content and interactions. If you leave a traveler’s note, comment on a post, or like signed-in content, the website stores that activity together with your Clerk user ID.
  • Basic visit and reading activity. The website records aggregate visits and trips. On post pages, it also records the post visited, a random visit identifier, the visit time, and whether the post was read to completion. These records do not contain your name, email address, or Google account identifier.
  • Technical information. Hosting and authentication providers may process standard request information, such as your IP address, browser, device information, and security logs, to deliver and protect their services.

How information is used

The information described above is used only to:

  • authenticate you and maintain your signed-in session;
  • display and manage notes, comments, and likes;
  • count visits and completed reads;
  • operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website; and
  • respond to privacy, support, or abuse reports.

I do not sell personal information or use Google user data for advertising.

Google user data

Google sign-in is used only to authenticate your account through Clerk. The website does not request access to Google Drive, Calendar, Contacts, Gmail, or other Google services. Google account information is not used for advertising and is not shared except with service providers that process it as needed to provide authentication and operate the website, or when required by law.

Cookies and local storage

The website uses:

  • Clerk cookies required for authentication and session security;
  • a random trip_id cookie, retained for up to five years, to avoid counting the same browser as a new trip on every visit;
  • local storage for your light or dark theme preference.

These technologies are not used for cross-site advertising or third-party ad tracking.

Service providers

The website relies on the following providers:

  • Clerk for account authentication and session management;
  • Google as an optional sign-in provider; and
  • Cloudflare for website hosting, security, and data storage.

Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy policy.

Data retention and your choices

Account information is retained by Clerk while your account remains active. Notes, comments, and likes are retained until you delete them, delete your account, or ask me to remove them. Individually deleted public content is hidden from the website but may remain in the database. When Clerk notifies the website that an account has been deleted, the website deletes the notes, signed-in likes, and post comments linked to that Clerk user ID.

Visit and read records and aggregate counters may be retained because they are not linked to your Google account. You can remove the trip identifier and saved theme by clearing this website’s cookies and local storage.

Children’s privacy

This is a general-audience personal website and is not designed specifically for children. Visitors can browse the website without signing in. If I learn that account information or submitted content belongs to a child under 13, I will remove it upon request. A parent or guardian can contact me at laiflonglearner@gmail.com.

Security and international processing

I use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed in countries where the service providers listed above operate.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy when the website or its data practices change. The updated date at the top of this page will show when the latest revision took effect.
